Des Moines, Iowa
The capital of Iowa and a damn fun town! There is a little taste of something for everyone and usually at a fraction of the price of most large cities. 

Maybe you've heard the term "Iowa Nice"? Well we take that pretty seriously around here! Enjoy the city surrounded by some of the best people you can hope to meet. 
If you lvoe the outdoors: DSM is home to miles upon miles of walking and biking trails. Take a walk around Gray's Lake or enjoy the river views downtown.  Check out one of the many parks around the city and Farmers Markets. Kayak the Racoon or Des Moines rivers or go boating at Saylorville Lake. 

We have minor league teams a'plenty for hocking, baseball, basketball and arena football. State High School tournaments draw huge crowds for a variety of sports. And Des Moines has hosted the NCAA Wrestling Nationals as well as March Madness games. 

Like live music? Wells Fargo Arena hosts some of the biggest acts touring the world. Not to mention music festivals like Big Country Bash, 80/35 and Hinterland. If small venues are more your style, you can find live music nightly at local bars, wineries and festivals. 

Craft beer and wineries? We have a plethora of craft breweries all over the metro area, as well as amazing wineries. 

Home to the world famous Iowa State Fair which has been touted as the best ever. If you haven't seen the massive cow made out of butter or eaten fried cheese curds or Oreos, you really haven't lived.  Plus they pull some pretty sweet musical acts too. 

If you're into motors check out local bike nights and car shows. Or venture just outside of town for Nascar races at Newton or sprint car races in Knoxville. 

And if you're hungry, well, we've got that covered too! Food trucks, fine dining, homestyle, diners, sports bars, pizza and italian joints, asian cuisine and famous spots like Jethro's BBQ. 

Shopaholic? Des Moines offers everything from the massive Jordan Creek Mall, outlet mall in Altoona to specialty shops in East Village and Valley Junction. 

Explore the Science Center of Iowa, the Civic Center, Des Moines Art Center, Botanical Gardens, Blank Park Zoo or the Pappajohn Sculpture Park downtown.
